Position Overview: BEOF is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Outreach Manager to join our team. The Outreach Manager will play a crucial role in fostering community engagement and managing in-kind donations to support our nonprofit’s mission and goals. This individual will also be responsible for managing BEOF’s in-house food pantry services and all reporting required by agency partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Community Outreach:
    • Develop and execute outreach strategies to engage the local community and key stakeholders.
    • Identify and build relationships with community organizations, businesses, schools, and individuals who share our mission.
    • Organize and attend community events, meetings, and outreach programs to promote our nonprofit’s mission and initiatives.
    • Supervise extracurricular activities for seniors, children, and parents within our clientele.
  1. In-Kind Donation Management:
    • Coordinate the solicitation and collection of in-kind donations such as goods, services, and volunteer support.
    • Maintain accurate records of in-kind donations, including donor information, quantity, and value.
    • Ensure that all in-kind donations are distributed or used in accordance with our organization’s needs and objectives.
  1. Food Pantry Management:
    • Oversee and manage BEOF’s in-house food pantry services, ensuring its efficient operation and organization.
    • Coordinate food distribution, inventory management, and volunteer staffing for the food pantry.
    • Implement best practices to maximize the impact of food pantry services within the community.
  1. Donor and Partner Relations:
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, partners, and supporters.
    • Express gratitude to donors for their contributions, including acknowledgment letters and recognition.
    • Collaborate with the fundraising team to align outreach efforts with fundraising campaigns.
  1. Reporting and Agency Partners:
    • Prepare regular reports on outreach, in-kind donations, and food pantry services, including their impact and outcomes.
    • Ensure compliance with all reporting requirements by agency partners and grantors.
    • Collaborate with relevant teams to gather necessary data and statistics for reporting.
    • Identify CSBG regulatory controls requiring board approval and ensure their inclusion on the Board Meeting agenda.
  1. Team Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with other team members to ensure alignment between outreach efforts and overall organizational goals.
    • Work with volunteers, interns, and other staff members to facilitate outreach activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or social work).
  • Proven experience in community outreach, in-kind donation management, and food pantry services within a nonprofit or similar organization.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Familiarity with relevant software and tools for donor management, outreach, and reporting preferred. 
  • Passion for the organization’s mission and values.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to transportation may be required, depending on the job location and responsibilities.

Head Start Teacher

Hours 8:15 am to 3:45 pm

Description:

  • Be responsible for providing a stimulating and educational learning environment and implementing the High Scope Curriculum.
  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment in the classroom
  • Foster school readiness goals through the implementation of daily lesson plans
  • Conduct family visits and parent/teacher conferences
  • Complete assessments utilizing tools such as COR and ESI
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the children

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood, or related field
  • Teaching experience with children ages 3 to 5 years old
  • Proficiency in written and verbal language skills in English
  • Knowledge of Arabic and Spanish a plus
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Successful completion of background check, fingerprinting and Mantoux test

Head Start Teacher

The Field Technician is responsible for the installation of energy efficient measures to reduce consumer energy bills for various utility and weatherization programs and will report directly to the Program Manager.

This position’s major focuses are to:

  • Ensure meeting required qualification.
  • Understanding of Hudson County’s low-moderate income residence.
  • Have knowledge of all BEOF programs for purpose of cross referencing.
  • Perform pre-inspections.
  • Schedule/perform post inspections.
  • Complete and ensure timely submission of paperwork regarding pre/post inspections, heating repairs, replacements, work order and audits.
  • Assisting production crew with shell work.
  • Dealing with clients and contractors.
  • Maintaining equipment, vehicle.
  • Maintaining mileage log.
  • Maintain electronic database (HESWAP).
  • Other tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Industry-based credential preferred
  • Training and experience in weatherization, 3-5 years preferred
  • Excellent teamwork and customer service skills
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Computer experience
  • Experience with working with the public

Skills:

  • Effective verbal and written communications skills.

The Meals on Wheels Driver, within the scope of work of the organization’s mission and under supervision and guidance from the Nutrition Supervisor, is responsible for meal delivery, performing daily wellness checks for clients, and providing excellent customer service to homebound older and disabled adults in the community.

This position’s major focuses are to:

  • Deliver meals to eligible participants in a friendly, caring and timely manner.
  • Perform wellness checks on all participants at time of meal delivery. Report any out of the ordinary findings to the Nutrition Supervisor in a timely manner to receive guidance and direction.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Required

  • High School diploma
  • NJ Driver’s License
  • Clean and safe driving record
  • Ability to work holiday dinners; Thanksgiving and Christmas
  • Work history that demonstrates reliability, flexibility and excellent customer service

  • Deliver emergency meals during inclement weather

Status/Hours: This is a part-time position, 9AM – 2PM

Education/Literacy Assistant shall be responsible for data entry of children’s records, COR Advantage input, daily lesson plans, filing, duplicating materials, assisting with the purchasing of materials and equipment, monthly reports, scheduling, maintaining inventory data for classrooms, monthly reports and compiling and distributing the quarterly newsletter for parents.

Requirements

  • Develop and implement a Literacy Plan for Bayonne Head Start families to include ESL instruction and GED preparation. Order and maintain the literacy books for ESL and GED
  • Establish literacy based collaborations with classroom staff, local libraries, local book stores, and a variety of community professionals and organizations as well as employ technology for children in all classrooms.
  • Recruit volunteer parents, city officials, community partners, local libraries, administrators and teachers from local schools to read to the students
  • Conduct literacy activities (read) to the students once a month (unless an aforementioned volunteer has been secured)
  • Encourage family literacy for the purpose of strengthening children’s positive educational outcomes, and building a thriving community
  • Conduct smooth operation of the on-site lending library
  • Coordinate Annual Family Literacy activity and assist with other literacy activities
  • Research and implement a range of effective and innovative literacy practices
  • Attend professional development in-service/trainings/workshops
  • Other assigned duties given by Education Manager.

Qualifications

  • AA or BA Degree in early childhood education or related field
  • Experience working with children a plus
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, adult learners and their families including communication, problem solving, and conflict management
  • Proficient in the use of computer software including MS Office and the Internet
  • Knowledge of reading, writing and literacy development
  • Proficient in the knowledge of how adults learn
  • Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend the English language – knowledge of Arabic and Spanish a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Clearance required for background, fingerprinting and sex offenders checks
  • Physical and PPD clearance required
